What is Boat Insurance?
Boat insurance provides coverage for motorized watercrafts. Typically, this coverage excludes canoes kayaks, and other non-motorized water craft (although they may be eligible for coverage under your homeowners insurance).

Do You Need Boat Insurance?
Ontario does not require you to carry boat insurance but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have it!
Marinas may require proof of insurance before you can store your watercraft with them. And if you are financing your boat, the lender will require you to have insurance before they can approve the loan.
Given that there are many ways your boat can be damaged, insurance just makes sense.
How Does Boat Insurance Work?
Watercraft and boat insurance ensures that if your vessel is stolen, in an accident, or experiences damage covered in the policy, some or all of the costs to repair or replace it will be covered.
If you are in a boating accident and deemed to be at fault, the liability portion of your coverage would cover the cost of damage to the other boat.
